DEAR CLAUDE - 32 x 32 Inches
Signed and numbered, limited edition 250 pieces. Larger than most of my artwork, the idea is to mirror a painting in size. This most likely is the only piece I will do in such a large version but it warrants the size.
"Dear Claude" is the lead artwork in my debut series of limited edition original photographic prints. The idea for this work was resonating with me for many years, but I had to have the perfect circumstances to be able to bring it to life. Driven by my admiration for Claude Monet's iconic water lily paintings and the impressionistic art movement in Europe. I first experienced the beauty of these works at the Courtauld Gallery Collection on loan at the Art Institute of Chicago from the UK. In the eighties. Seeing the collection of impressionist and post-impressionist paintings not only inspired me but also gave me a deep appreciation of the artistic accomplishments of these true masters.
I spent decades in pursuit of the perfect water lily pond, longing to capture its essence through my lens. This piece stands as a heartfelt tribute to Monet, as I carefully employ a photographic filter to transform my original fine art photograph, discovered amidst the raw magnificence of Ontario's untamed wilderness near Algonquin Park, into a captivating watercolor painting reminiscent of a dreamy impression.
Through this technique, I wanted to capture the serene and ethereal qualities of Monet's masterpieces. "Dear Claude" is also a representation of my respect for the spirit and energy of Paris and all Parisians who take pride in their artistic history and in their current artists.
This artwork is a giclee print on museum-quality archival baryta cotton paper. The vivid swirl of colors pops and reflects the tranquil beauty of the location where the photograph was taken, in the Ontario wilderness. With only 250 prints available, this exclusive collector's item is a tribute to the timeless beauty of impressionistic art and a celebration of the natural world's splendor.
Please enjoy this piece that has finally come to life after years of contemplation.
